Manchester United Defender Could Be Set For Surprise Exit
Marcos Rojo’s agent has moved to dismiss claims that the Argentine defender is ready to leave Manchester United this January amid links with Napoli.
His agent Carlos Goncalves also dismissed the rumours, as he spoke to a Naples radio station.
He said (via talkSPORT):
“There is no need to talk about it. The player is happy at United and has no intention of leaving the club.”
Sunday’s game was the first match Rojo has started for United this season after his extended summer holiday following his involvement in the Copa America with Argentina. It’s not so nice that we have three defenders injured (Rojo, Luke Shaw and Paddy McNair).
The 20-year-old played 18 times for the club last season and made his worldwide debut in Northern Ireland’s 1-0 loss to Scotland in March.
He reportedly angered Louis van Gaal by failing to renew his passport and missing a chunk of United’s pre-season, though Luke Shaw’s recent injury suggests he’s going to feature as a first team regular for the remainder of the campaign.
United, who prevailed past Southampton in an entertaining fixture at the weekend, are back in action in the Capital One Cup tomorrow night when they take on Ipswich Town at Old Trafford.
