Mesut Ozil’s agent hints at a move away from Arsenal
Despite some external criticisms, the majority of the club’s supporters would advise the German is one the Gunners’ most important players too.
According to Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil’s agent, a move to Turkey could be a possibility this summer. But you can not know the conditions.
Erkut Sogut told Vatan: “Fenerbahce are serious but it all depends on what answer Arsenal give”.
Ozil, who is actually Turkish by heritage and has had a mixed spell in England following his £42.5 million move to the club from Real Madrid in 2013.
The 31-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and Jose Mourinho wants a replacement.
Ozil, whose parents are Turkish, was quoted as saying in the Sabah newspaper in July: “In the future I want to wear a Fenerbahce shirt”.
Ozil signed from Madrid in 2013 for a record fee and has since won two FA Cups and helped his side qualify for the Champions League in both the ensuing seasons.
The Turkish Super Lig side have made some impressive acquisitions as of late too, with high-profile names such as Robin van Persie and Nani joining the club last summer. However, a departure from Arsenal for Fenerbahce could be a serious choice for him.
Fenerbahce may be “serious” about making a move for the Arsenal man but for the sake of competing at the top of the game in years to come he should stick with the north London club beyond the end of this season.
