Microsoft Boss Anticipates Sony Will Drop PS4’s Price In US
When I think about the playbook they’ve used in the past, we feel good about the plans we have in place going forward in the holiday. An even more telling sign is the fact that Sony Japan recently dropped the price of its latest console overseas.
PS4’s third year on the market will begin soon, which is the time the company has usually marked down the base price by about $50. Microsoft and Sony are now and have been the kingpins of the gaming console game through their Xbox and PlayStation entertainment packages. I fully expect [PlayStation] will drop price.
The Xbox executive was also happy with the decision, which is a bit surprising since everyone is accustomed to see two bitter rivals to throw bombs at each other and said that the move is great for gamers.
We have the feeling that Microsoft should be very scared of a PS4 price cut.
Though there has not yet been an official statement from Sony about the rumored price drop in the PS4 this coming October, Xbox One President Spencer suggested that the company might be waiting to announce the price drop at Paris Games Week.
Sony and Microsoft could do battle by offering more games and services, and lower prices.
The Xbox One isn’t without MMOs, but one major game that’s available on PlayStation systems but missing from Microsoft’s consoles is Square Enix‘s Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. He said that an example was just a year ago , during the holiday season, when “we saw insane sales numbers on all of the consoles”. Couple that potential price drop with the impending launch of the highly anticipated PlayStation VR headset, as well as games like Uncharted 4, Persona 5, The Last Guardian and Horizon: Zero Dawn, and you’ve got a pretty good recipe for success.
