Microsoft Surface Hub Shipping Delayed Again Until January 2016
People who pre-ordered the Surface Hub from Microsoft were notified Wednesday that their mega-display and conference room collaboration tool won’t arrive until 2016, at least four months after Microsoft originally planned.
Hall adds that Microsoft will share additional shipment details and updates about the manufacturing process in August, while continuing to receive preorders. However, it’s equally likely that the issue involves software; Microsoft has focused all its efforts in the past couple of months on pushing the consumer version of Windows 10 out of the door, leaving little time to develop the specialised version needed for the Surface Hub.
“Microsoft cited “strong demand” for Surface Hub devices as reason to “[tune its] manufacturing process to prepare for production at broader scale”. The Surface Hub was created primarily for big business and education customers.
This delay isn’t worrying, nor has it caught us off-guard.
All content on the Surface Hub is also automatically beamed on the screen when an HDMI cable is connected, so no more messing around with tabs and folders to find the setting to output images – it just happens automatically. It has a built-in touch input, specially made cameras that will track your movement, and other features oriented for businesses – video conferences are stable, and easily initiated. ZD Net reports that some of the interesting features of the Windows 10 found on the Surface Pro 3 can also be expected in the upcoming Surface Pro 4.
Naturally, both Hubs will run on Windows 10, Microsoft’s latest and greatest OS. The price of 84 inch Surface Hub is $19,999.
The tech giant debuted this conferencing tool, or should we say “wall computer”, during its Windows 10-related event back in January.
