Microsoft underestimated mobile phone market, says Satya Nadella
Google is also one of the top companies that are yet to bring their apps to Windows Phone, despite the fact that there are millions of users out there who’d love to install Gmail, Google Maps, and YouTube on their Lumia devices.
“But to assume that that is what the longer term is all the time to come can be to make the identical mistake we made up to now with out even having the share place of the previous”.
Speaking to Zdnet, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said that version 1 of HoloLens is will be more about developers and enterprise.
He added that the corporate has to be on the “hunt for what’s the subsequent bend within the curve”.
Microsoft has finally put an end to all kinds of rumors about its smartphone plans by announcing that it would be revealing “premium Lumias designed for Windows 10” very soon. We’re doing that with options like Continuum. Nadella seems to want Windows to become nearly hardware agnostic, and he thinks the universal apps plan for Windows 10 is the way to do it. He says, “Universal Windows apps are going to be written because you want to have those apps used on the desktop”. And a company has to outlast any given technology paradigm and any ambitious goal. “And so for me this going again to what’s it that drove Bill (Gates) to construct even the BASIC compiler or the interpreter to what we did when it comes to inventing productiveness or democratising shopper-server computing”, he stated.
The Microsoft chief had spelled out personal computing, reinvention of productivity and business process and building an intelligent cloud platform as the company’s three “bold ambitions” going forward at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference 2015 underway here.
Word that Windows 10 would be welcomed in grand style came less than a week on Monday after Microsoft said it will cut 7,800 jobs and write down the value of its struggling mobile phone division acquired previous year from Nokia by some $7.6 billion. Windows 10 will make notifications pan across your smartphone, PC, HoloLens, Surface Hub or any other device running Windows.
He stressed Microsoft will also not launch a phone a day but focus on few phones that are unique.
“Last week’s announcement was not about any change to our vision and strategy, but for sure it was a change to our operating approach”, he said.
There’s been a lot of talk concerning what Microsoft is going to do with its encumbered phone business following the huge layoffs last week. Ultimately, Microsoft wants to get Windows 10 on as many devices as possible.
