Microsoft unveils its first ever laptop
One of the most anticipated products at Microsoft’s event in NYC this morning is the newest Surface Pro. This laptop flaunts a 13.5-inch PixelSense display with resolution of 3000×2000 pixels, and a pixel density of 267ppi with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection.
And if you need to put the screen back on, simply flip it around and use it like a convertible. It’s also powered by a sixth-generation Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM and has an impressive 1TB of on-board storage. In addition, about three-fourths of the device’s battery life is stored in the keyboard.
Today we’re going to run you through these new offerings and help give you a better look at Microsoft’s latest.
Microsoft stunned the world on Tuesday by launching its first ever laptop, the Microsoft Surface Book. Since its official release, Windows 10 has generated a lot of positive buzz and favorable reviews. Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, commented that “It’s unbelievable to see the innovation and momentum with Windows”.
The company is heavily relying on its latest operating system to boost its share in the tablet and smartphones market, which is now ruled by Apple Inc and Samsung Electronics.
“Over 1,000 businesses have chosen Lumia phones in the previous year”, he added.
The Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL will compete in the premium smartphone segment which is now dominated by Apple Inc.’s iPhones.
Also in the new lineup was the 8.25mm thin Lumia 950, running Windows 10 and sporting a 5.2-inch quad HD display. Its updated Surface Pen will have 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity with a digital eraser on top, and the battery life for the pen will last a year, Panay said. As of today, the only USA carrier that will support the new Lumia 950 is AT&T.
The Microsoft Surface Book was revealed as a competitor to Apple’s Macbook Pro, claiming to be the fastest 13-inch laptop ever made – two-times faster than its Macbook rival. “It’s pretty cool.” But on stage, he wouldn’t compare the new Surface Pro 4 to the iPad Pro or any other iPad.
Once that’s done, Windows 10 appears on the screen, where the user can continue to use the universal apps that are already preloaded on the phone. Accessories include new Type Covers with a 40 percent larger trackpad, redesigned key layout and a fingerprint reader.
