Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj Throw Shade During VMAs 2015; ‘Wrecking Ball’ Singer
Her point was not initially apparent to everyone. Twenty One Pilots with A$AP Rocky tried mashing up a couple of each other’s songs, but that didn’t end up sounding as well as they hoped. You also probably witnessed the host of the award show, Miley Cyrus fail to bring the show justice.
When Minaj called out Cyrus at the show, she was calling out every white woman who speaks negatively about black women raising their voices against racism. Not that this is jealousy, but jealousy does the opposite of what you want it to – that’s a yoga mantra. Fans are lucky that she doesn’t care about the people against her, and they would get to see more of her nudity.
Now I love Britney Spears, but when she came out to present Best Male Video, I was a little embarrassed for her. Her dress was short, tight, cut out everywhere and reminded me of something she would have worn at the age of 21. It starts with a statement of the obvious, “Yeah, I smoke pot”.
This was when I realized that Cyrus’s self-proclaimed feminism ain’t all that intersectional. Whereas Swift has lengthy written songs about individuals who have wronged her, from ex-boyfriends to bloggers, she’s famously by no means named names.
However, Miley’s not taking any of this seriously and she has yet to respond to the very question that’s being thrown at her over and over again.
And as you know, the family is always first to react to situations like this. The 22-year-old “Adore You” singer said that Minaj’s tweets were “not very polite”.
Meanwhile, Drake, who has been in an ongoing public feud with Minaj’s boyfriend took Cyrus’ side after the VMAs and also expressed his wish to record a duet diss track. And none of it really is having any effect on our lives. After garnering mass attention at the 2014 VMAs for asking a young homeless man to instead accept her award for Video of the Year, Miley launched the Happy Hippie Foundation earlier this summer – a nonprofit aimed to help the nation’s more than 600,000 LGBT homeless youth.
But rather, I started to think: Just how committed is Minaj to promoting diversity within the industry?
Her risqué outfits while hosting VMAs on August 30, exposed “more than normal” of her butt and bosom and the 22-year old singer has no plans to put a full stop to her bold moves. Not a rapper (though there was an awkward compliment given to Dej Loaf at the BET awards).
