Mobile offers cheapest iPhone 6s for US$5 under trade-in plan
Earlier this month, in preparation for Apple’s New iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, T-Mobile announced it would be offering its customers the option to lease a new iPhone for a month, for 18 months.
T-Mobile CEO John Legere has said on Twitter that the carrier’s iPhone pre-orders are up 30 percent from a year ago. The price goes up when the customer exchanges an older device, with payments of $10 a month with the trade-in of an iPhone 5s or the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. At T-Mobile, you’ll get what your trade in is worth.
For example, the OnePlus 2 has the same 5.5-inch sreen size as the iPhone 6S Plus, with 50% more memory, a higher-megapixel camera and a battery that’s nearly twice as large. That tariff is £59 per month over two years for a 16GB iPhone 6S, and you’ll also pay £9.99 up front.
Then on Wednesday, T-Mobile announced an additional trade-in deal for a range of iPhones, Samsung Galaxy S and Note models, and a smattering of other smartphones. T-Mobile says you can keep the device when the agreement is up by paying $125 less than the full retail price.
Trying to figure out where and how to get a new iPhone every time a new one is released is always an adventure, to put it mildly.
Sprint Corp. has leasing plans that run as low as $15 a month over a 22-month lease. “T-Mobile and Sprint are using the monthly price subscribers pay for the smartphone to win customers”.
Figuring out how much an iPhone 6S will actually cost you this year is either going to be super simple or ridiculously complicated.
Having introduced what is probably the cheapest plan ever for a premium flagship device, is T-Mobile’s plan the best there is in the market?
Meanwhile, the Apple Watch will cost $549 for the 38mm model and $599 for the 42mm model outright, and will be available in stainless steel with black or white Sport bands.
U.S. carriers are also pressured by Apple’s own financing scheme for an unlocked iPhone that gives customers the freedom to switch between carriers. The program enables the user to upgrade to a new smartphone in exchange of the existing phone for a maximum of three times in a year.
