Modi to address to Indian diaspora in Dubai

After the meeting, the Crown Prince also hosted a lunch for Modi. Shaikh Mohammad shook hands with the ministers and senior officials accompanying the Indian prime minister.
Modi also praised over 2.6 million Indians – living in the UAE – for their contribution to the Indian economy, as they remit more than Dollars 13 billion per year.
The Prime Minister described India as a land of opportunity with 125 crore Indians who should be looked upon not just as a market, but also a great power.
Soon after arriving, Modi tweeted in Arabic: “I highly appreciate the kind and precious gesture of Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed for welcoming me at the airport“.
Modi lamented the “lethargy” of his predecessor governments, provoking the Congress, which maintained that insulting the Opposition on foreign soil has become routine for the Prime Minister.
I am very optimistic about this visit.

There is no doubt that UAE is a global economic success story that has attracted people from all over the world. The PM was received by the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Our armed forces would engage with each other more.
There are now two Hindu temples and one Sikh Gurudwara in Dubai, but none in Abu Dhabi.
Today, Modi will visit the sustainable Masdar City, a planned city project in Abu Dhabi, where he will address the UAE business community. The traditionally close and friendly India-UAE bilateral relationship has evolved into a significant partnership in the economic and commercial sphere. Indian expatriates comprise 30 percent of the UAE’s population and are the largest nationality group.
He also interacted with Indian workers at the ICAD Residential Labour Camp, which houses thousands of migrant labourers from the Indian subcontinent.
According to the Hindustan Times, the UAE directly invests $3.1 billion into India’s economy, while about 45,000 Indian companies operate in the Emirates. Around 60% of India’s energy imports are sourced from the Gulf, with 8% from the UAE alone.
