Navy unveils new uniforms and custom helmets for each position
The Army-Navy game is December 12 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia at 3 p.m. ET on CBS.
Topping off the unis will be helmets that will feature a different naval vessel for each position group.
Players will wear one of the 7 helmets based on their position, with each respective ship representing qualities of that position. And the wide receiver’s stealth like attacks call’s for a Submarine being painted on the WR’s helmet. On Monday, the program changed the uniform game forever by unveiling the most unique helmets in the history of college or professional football.
Each position is assigned a different ship. They feature blue jerseys with white letters and numbers and blue trousers with a yellow stripe down the side. Also scripted on the uniforms is the rally cry, “Damn the torpedoes”, which serves “as a nod to Admiral Farragut’s historic Naval victory at the Battle of Mobile Bay in 1864”.
Players for the Navy football team are getting a new look just in time for the Army-Navy game this month. For example, the Aircraft Carrier technically acts as a symbolic quarterback for the Naval Fleet being the “ultimate decision maker” and “quick strike” weapon of the Navy Fleet.
