New Fierfox browser includes instant messaging
It has become so controversial that one popular ad blocker, Peace, was voluntarily removed from Apple’s App store by its creator for its sweeping approach.
To be sure, this list of new features in Firefox 41 isn’t tirelessly long.
Mozilla introduced the Windows 10 version in August and the company also came up with a version of Firefox for the iPhone and the iPad to woo the customers. All you have to do is smiley icon on the upper right corner of the Firefox Navigation bar at the top. And because some websites won’t load if you disable tracking, Mozilla added a button to the toolbar that lets you turn off the no-tracking feature for individual sites.
The headliner is an experimental new feature – Tracking Protection in Private Browsing – that Mozilla wants its users to try out for Mac, Windows, Linux and Android. The feature only works on the desktop version for now. Firefox is at the number three position in the browser market.
Firefox’s Electrolysis (e10s) feature is expected to launch with version 43 of the browser, scheduled for release around December.
Mozilla hopes that people experimenting with the new Private Browsing will offer their opinions, and has posted feedback page where users can share their experiences.
Firefox’s desktop and Android browser have been spruced up with a few enhancements.
I do use Firefox, however, and I would like it to remain just Firefox. But the browser has seen better days in terms of overall use. It’s a notable enhancement, because it makes it easier for users to take advantage of the safeguards.
Besides listing add-ons that are now working, are shimmed (hacked to go around the issue), untested, or are completely broken, the site also encourages users to install a recent version of Firefox Nightly (which includes e10s support) and help out with the testing. And finally you can manually copy and paste your username and password from Firefox’s Password Manage if they’re not automatically filled in. The new Firefox also has an indicator to show tabs playing audio, complete with one-click muting.
