Bug fixes. The app update also addresses some issues around sign-in, localization and game streaming.
As promised Microsoft’s Xbox One has rolled out its latest update which includes a couple of new social features and an improved video streaming capability from Xbox One to Windows 10 PCs.
The company’s Xbox 360 backward compatibility feature will allow Xbox Live Gold members with an Xbox One to play many of their 360 games on the current-gen console. Just be sure you have enough bandwidth at home before attempting this video quality.
We updated My Games to support a grid view with a jump list, where your games are now displayed in a grid sorted alphabetically. The owner only needs to right click on a friend’s name and select the Send Message and Invite to Party to commence the chat.
You can also manually add games to your collection, as long as they have a link in the Start Menu.
Microsoft continues to add functionality to the Xbox One, and with today’s update, that functionality has a lot to do with Windows 10.
The new version number is 8.8.15003.00000 or higher. In addition, you can now compare achievements with friends from Game Hub: select Achievements > Compare at the top right above the list of all the achievements. The list of games that have been automatically discovered has also been updated. Even better, you can go into the settings and choose your microphone and speakers; meaning you can have your party chat coming into your headset or large PC speakers depending on your setup and needs. This will allow you to stream games from Xbox One at 1080p and 60fps. Find the string “IsInternalPreview” and where it says false write true – then save it. Voila, you can now stream Xbox One games in Very High quality. Many fans of both Xbox and PlayStation will recall that a major differentiator between the Xbox One and PS4 was the former’s inability to hit 60fps on many popular titles at launch. Will you be streaming games in 1080p/60fps? This is a great opportunity to build up your games library, and Xbox Live program lets you do exactly that.
