Nitish Kumar Launches ‘Shabdwapsi’ Against Modi’s DNA Comment
Reacting over Modi’s sarcastic remarks at Nitish Kumar’s alliance partner RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s experiences in jail, Bihar CM shot back, “What does he (Modi) have to say about his own house?”
He also said that there will be a “swabhiman rally” in Patna on August 29.
He said that the citizens of Bihar have been suffering for the last 25 years and a return of the “Jungle Raj Part II” will destroy the state completely.
In a move that has apparently taken Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar by surprise, the Centre has appointed dalit BJP leader from Uttar Pradesh Ram Nath Kovind (pictured)as the state’s Governor. He had asked Modi to withdraw remarks on his DNA to assuage the “hurt” sentiments of the people of Bihar.
Meanwhile, senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said Nitish was trying to link his political DNA with that of the people of entire Bihar. “Modi should apologise because he has insulted the people of Bihar”, he said.
He said this election will release Bihar from the “Jungle Raj”.
The aggressive Bihar Chief Minister took handle of a Modi’s comment made at a Muzaffarpur rally last month where the Prime Minister had said “there is something wrong with Nitish Kumar’s DNA” since he has a track record of ditching his allies and own men.
Modi was referring to the recent jail term served by Lalu in Ranchi in connection with a multi-crore fodder scandal.
He said people should use the upcoming polls as an opportunity to “free themselves from the jungle raj” by voting for the NDA.
In a tit-for-tat, he also coined a new name for BJP, while recalling Amit Shah’s statement about Prime Minister’s promise of bringing back black money stashed overseas that it was mere “jumla” (platitude).
With the Parliament session coming to an end later this week, the stage is set for a bitter and no-holds-barred election campaign in Bihar, where state assembly polls are due in September-October this year.
Contrary to the hype created by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies in Gaya, Modi remained silent over the promised special package at his election rally in Gaya.
Alok said the rally would be jointly addressed by Nitish Kumar and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad.
Kumar on Sunday took on PM Modi from the front as the latter visited the state for a political rally.
