O’Malley challenges Clinton to speak at Iowa State Fair

A Republican debate last week confirmed the disruptive power of business magnate Donald Trump, and the long-presumed probable Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, is feeling the heat from enormous crowds drawn to Sen.
Trump also said outside the fair that he had just put out a position paper on immigration, which will be revealed on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday morning.
He took questions from reporters and aimed barbs at fellow candidates while touting his place atop the Republican polls. Former Sen. Tom Harkin of Iowa, who endorsed her this week and wore a straw hat to shade him from the blazing sun, accompanied her. She blamed her Republican challengers and GOP House members on Saturday for turning the affair into a partisan issue.
“Sorry Bern boy. Don’t get me wrong, I love Senator Sanders -” she said, before her friend Tim LaPointe interjected, “but she’s the Eleanor Roosevelt of our time”.
It is a shining display of the state’s heartland agriculture, with 600-lb. butter-sculpted cows, rows of gleaming yellow corn and livestock judged on the basis of shoulder height, stride length and “attractive rib design”.

“After a quick stop for a root beer, Sanders” entourage was cheered by people drinking beers at The Depot. “Trump will do that”.
Both Trump and Clinton avoided getting up on The Des Moines Register’s “soapbox”, a place where candidates can deliver remarks and take questions from fairgoers. NPR national political correspondent Don Gonyea is also at the fair, exactly where we’d expect to find him this time of year.

She defended her joke on Saturday during her press conference, describing the controversy as just another example of the “partisanization” of politics.
