Odell Beckham Jr. fined for actions in game vs. Bills
– After hearing he was fined $9,000 for throwing a punch in last week’s 24-10 win over the Buffalo Bills, New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. said he will appeal and he will not change how he plays the game. He was not penalized, but he admitted on Wednesday that he was fined by the league. He clearly believes the financial reprimand was unwarranted. Such cheap shots, they say, are a major part of his game.
“I’m fine every single day”. “We’re playing football. The Bills are, I think, a great team and a great defense”.
An unidentified Bills player who wasn’t even in uniform took a swing at Giants defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins in the fourth quarter after a play ended in front of the Bills’ bench. “I don’t remember getting any flags last game or one for offensive holding or something”.
Beckham was not called for any penalties during the game for postplay conduct. Who, after all, wouldn’t want to defend himself when opposing players are coming after you, and instigating confrontations?
On walking a “fine line:” It’s tough. “They’re out there targeting you; they’re trying to do things to you”.
“Odell actually came to me”. I love football, there’s nothing more to it than that.
“It’s whatever, man. It’s football, we’re playing football”.
Among the actors generating these kinds of assertions appeared to be Bills retreat Duke Williams, who exactly gave the impression to require a type the facial skin from Beckham after barricading him after a Stephon Gilmore interception. Beckham said he also talked with general manager Jerry Reese, and his message to both was the same.
Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Beckham came to his office Wednesday morning to discuss his actions. “And he’s an emotional guy”. Coughlin said he was “disappointed” because he feels Beckham is “beyond and above a lot of that stuff”.
“I think he wants to go out there and do well”, Manning said. Not true, Beckham said.
“What they do to me, and what I do to them, it’s irrelevant”. He ran away. I’m just like, ‘Wow. I’m very confident in my ability. “Whether he knows it or not, my eyes are always on him”.
