‘Pinnacle’ Luxury Watch Comes With Apple Watch Attached to It
But there are already some voices saying there’s not going to be anything delicate or butterfly like about the luxury Apple Watch from the Skyview Pinnacle collection.
While some luxury watch makers, such as Tag Heuer, have joined in the wearable revolution by creating their own smartwatches Nico Gerard – a California-based luxury watch company – has taken a slightly different approach. If you’re not the patient type, then you could always spend $200 more on a blue face and cut the delivery time to between eight and ten months. Note the Apple Watch in question appears to be the mid-range stainless steel version, which Apple will sell you for around £500, not the 18-carat gold Watch Edition, which costs upward of £8,000. Enter the Nico Gerard Skyview PINNACLE.
The Apple Watch’s design is lauded by some and criticized by others who felt that it might not necessarily have been Jony Ive’s best work.
The Pinnacle watches come in three models, but the top of the pile is the $154,000 Sunrise Pinnacle, which has a limited production run of just 88 watches.
It’s actually a 41mm timepiece with a mechanical, Swiss-made NG2824A automatic movement and a special bracelet. On the opposite side of the band from the normal watch face sits a transplanted Apple Watch, looking confused and out-of-place, like a chronographical CatDog. However, a modern Apple Watch has been added onto the opposite side of the strap.
And in case you find the price of the above timepiece not right for you, you can go a little more downmarket and pay only $9,300 to own the Nico Gerard Pinnacle. “Before Nico Gerard, people were forced to choose”, he told BuzzFeed. Customers then have to wait between six and 12 months (depending on which they bought) before they can get their hands – or their wrists – on the timepieces.
