Everything gathered inside the bunker is used across Wimbledon.com and the official app, updating every match in real time, and offering up interesting stats as they happen.
Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka, the other two Grand Slam champions in the fourth round, have been two of the most consistent players at this year’s tournament, and another pair of wins for each would set up a semifinal meeting on Thursday.
The 2013 champion at the All England Club advanced Monday by beating Ivo Karlovic of Croatia 7-6 (7), 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 on Centre Court.
Radwanska lost to Serena Williams in her only major final at the All England Club three years ago, but followed it up with another semifinal run at Wimbledon in 2013. Federer holds a 12-11 advantage, and he beat Murray in a Wimbledon final in 2012.
Three American women, including Williams, are in the quarterfinals. “I’ve said that many times”, said Roger Federer, a seven-time Wimbledon champion who will also be playing on Manic Monday.
Agnieszka Radwanska is back in the Wimbledon semifinals for the third time in four years. Azarenka, a two-time Australian Open champion, has lost 17 games and will next meet 30th-seeded Belinda Bencic of Switzerland.
Andy Murray has made it to the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the eighth straight year.
Gilles Simon will be playing in the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the first time. To make it to the semifinals, Wawrinka will have to beat 21st-seeded Richard Gasquet of France on Wednesday. But the top-seeded Serb can still defend his title at Wimbledon, a victory that would give him a third championship at the All England Club. But that may not matter when he faces Federer, one of the best grass-court players ever.
In the quarterfinals on Wednesday, Murray will face unseeded Vasek Pospisil of Canada.
Rain briefly halted play on the outside courts, and forced those on the main courts to return indoors Tuesday at the All England Club. Vandeweghe will next face fourth-seeded Maria Sharapova, who won Monday to advance to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2011. Djokovic and Anderson split the opening two sets on Monday before play was suspended by darkness. A few moments later, a large cloud rolled in and the spectators quickly reached for their umbrellas.
Djokovic’s next opponent will be Kevin Anderson, a 14th-seeded South African who has never been past the fourth round at a Grand Slam tournament. They are to finish the match Tuesday on Court 1.
It will be the second minute of silence at this year’s tournament.
