Republican debate: Second-tier candidates battle for break-out moments
Setting a combative tone, billionaire businessman Donald Trump grabbed the spotlight in the first Republican presidential debate, declaring he would not commit to supporting the party’s eventual nominee and would not rule out running as a third-party candidate.
Anyone who’s been paying attention to the campaign so far already knows that Fiorina has been outstanding on the stump and in her limited exposure in the media.
“I want to be me”.
“Obama was a brand”.
The “Official Donald Trump” hats, and all the products for that matter, boast in their descriptions that they were “Proudly Made in USA”.
She gave credit to Trump for tapping to “an anger that people feel” but also revealed how she would challenge him if they were sharing the same stage tonight. Several campaign strategists, however, expect Trump to remain on a higher road come debate time, Politico reported.
Carly Fiorina was the only woman on stage at the so-called “Happy Hour” debate on Thursday night.
“I’m going to keep my mind free and loose”, Huckabee told Fox News.
Walker, looking relaxed in a blue fair polo shirt, jeans and sneakers, said at the opening ceremony he couldn’t miss the first day of an annual event he loves. But the committee says they will be in February or March.
What’s at issue is whether Trump can demonstrate to fellow Republicans sorting through a crowded primary field that he is electable if he were to win the nomination. The general public will be able to send in Facebook posts and videos during the debate asking their questions – and Fox will use them to ask and frame questions throughout the debate.

A religious conservative, Laudner signing on with Trump was viewed by some in Iowa as a surprise and it could mean that Trump will be able to expand his base of support. I watched the entire debate, but still can’t tell.
“I don’t bring God into that picture”. “I will not make the pledge at this time, ” he said. That’s something that ought to scare the people who will debate at 9pm. The rhetoric on immigration from candidates in the 2016 election has been much more aggressive in some cases. Or will it be a slightly toned down and gentler Trump, who said he wasn’t interested in attacking his competition unless he was first provoked?
Trump’s blunt style was in line with the approach he’s taken to his campaign throughout the summer, appealing to voters frustrated with career politicians and perplexing his rivals. Both will air on the Fox News Channel. “Ronald Reagan evolved, Ronald Reagan was a Democrat and he became a Republican”.
Trump leads the latest GOP presidential nomination polls, according to CBS News.
There have been other recent celebrity candidate flameouts.
As part of his “pro-worker immigration plan”, he called for reducing the level of legal immigration by 25 percent, claiming that “almost all” the legal immigrants who have entered the country over the last 20 years “are unskilled workers, flattening wages, creating frightful lack of opportunities for unskilled workers”.
