Sam Smith announces re-release of debut album on Twitter
Sam Smith has announced that he will re-release his chart-topping debut album “In the Lonely Hour” in a double-disc format.
The reissue features multiple cover songs, such as Whitney Houston’s “How Will I Know?” and “Love Is a Losing Game” by Amy Winehouse. Singles from the album include “Lay Me Down”, “Money on My Mind”, “Stay with Me”, “I’m Not the Only One” and “Like I Can”.
The electronic duo – brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence – contributed “additional production” to Smith’s “Writing’s on the Wall”, his theme for the upcoming James Bond film Spectre.
Rounding out the tracklist are acoustic versions of “Latch” and “Omen,” two collaborations with electronic duo Disclosure, along with a live version of “Latch” recorded at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
Sam wrote on Twitter that the album was a “final bow before my second album”. “‘In The Lonely Hour Drowning Shadows Edition, ‘” along with the new album cover, according to Billboard.
“I have listened to all your wants and wishes and put a few tracks on this album that you all wanted originally”, he said.
The 23-year-old singer spilled the beans to his fans about his new reissue Friday morning on Twitter by posting the message, “Here I give you…”
According to Smith: “This is my thank you to you all, and the final bow before my second album”, he said. The song “Drowning Shadows” is brand new, however, and a press release calls it “a stripped back, heart wrenching ballad that debuts Sam’s impressive vocals over cascading strings and piano”.
The whole collection is available via iTunes.
