Samsung Pay Will Not Be Supported By Verizon
Verizon is missing. Since Verizon is missing and the world just realized this fact yesterday, the internet got caught up in a series of “Verizon isn’t supporting Samsung Pay!” stories. Samsung recently revealed that its mobile payment app won’t work on Verizon, though the carrier claims it’s still deciding whether or not to support the service. In the meantime anyone planning to use Samsung Pay upon its launch? Based on the demos we’ve seen so far it looks pretty great, though we’ll have to test out the service for ourselves once it launches late next month. But, Samsung Pay also works with magnetic stripe readers, which are popular in Asia and the United States. “So, from the machine’s perspective it is actually receiving the same amount of information that it would from a magnetic reader”. Of course, those stories were developed from Twitter conversations with social media support handlers, which aren’t exactly go-to spokepersons for either Verizon or Samsung.
What is the reason that Verizon is not supporting the Samsung Pay?
The telecommunications company, however, reached out to its customers saying Samsung Pay remains under its evaluation phase, and they shall release an update on the service. It is unclear as to why Verizon has opted to not support Samsung Pay, but that’s something worth keeping in mind. Unfortunately, Samsung Pay is only available on the following units: Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+, and Galaxy Note 5. The bottom part of the phone has to be close enough to payment terminal for 15 seconds before a transaction closes. That suggests the two companies may still come to an agreement, though Samsung seems to think a partnership is already out of the question.
