Saudi plane arrives in Aden airport

Security and shipping officials also said that oil had arrived at the port for the city’s refinery.
“This is a major breakthrough for our humanitarian response in Yemen”.
“WFP made repeated attempts to send ships to Aden, all of which until today were blocked due to severe fighting in the port area”, a statement said.
Vessels landed in another nearby port, and aid was delivered by road. “More WFP-chartered ships are on stand-by near Aden carrying fuel and more food”. Saudi-backed fighters also are advancing on a military air base in Lahj province.
Saudi Arabia intervened in Yemen’s war on March 26 in an effort to stop Houthi forces taking Aden, the last city nominally controlled by Hadi. The Shiite Islamists had been pushed back from neighborhoods in and around Aden and turned their fire on the village of Dar Saad.
Basalma told journalists on Monday that a UAE technical team had arrived to fix the tower and passenger terminal at Aden worldwide airport, heavily damaged in clashes.
Nine rebels were killed in a raid on Khormaksar neighbourhood, witnesses said. He said the rebels were dragged to a local cemetery, shot and buried in one hole. All officials and eyewitnesses spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to reporters or feared reprisals.
Shelling by Houthi and pro-Saleh forces in the Dar Saad district of Aden on Sunday, which killed at least 43 people, was indiscriminate and targeted an area where many displaced people live, the worldwide aid group Medecins sans Frontieres said. The attack was claimed by a local affiliate of the Islamic State group.
The human rights spokesman said “the conflict continues to take a serious toll on civilians, both in terms of direct violence and in terms of the effect on many economic, social and cultural rights”.
The UN’s World Food Programme ship carried 4,700 tonnes of food and pharmaceutical aid, and the second 2,315 tonnes of medical aid.
