Signs that Republican hopefuls taking sharper aim at Trump

A Quinnipiac survey taken in late June had Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker in the lead at 18 percent, followed by Mr. Trump and Mr. Carson at 10 percent each.

“I have tremendous energy”, Trump said. “Whatever”.

“I’m going after everybody in American because, you know, we live in very perilous times”, he said on ABC’s “This Week”.

Her campaign released a new video, “Faces”, hitting back at Donald Trump’s recent comments on her appearance in which he said “Look at that face!” and “Would anyone vote for that?”

But the lone female Republican candidate delivered quite the counterpunch.

Rather than sidestep the putdown, the former Hewlett-Packard CEO cleverly turned it into an asset, encouraging a National Federation of Republican Women audience to do exactly what Trump commanded: “Look at that face!” And while her putative target was Democrats – “Ladies, note to Democrat Party: We are not a special interest group, we are the majority of the nation”, Fiorina says in the ad – there’s no doubt she was making Trump face up to his own commentary.

“Every time I speak they put me on live television so I have to make different speeches”, Trump said.

The Republican candidates will face off Wednesday in a debate hosted by CNN in Simi Valley, California.

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal recently ripped “narcissist” Trump, saying “we can not nominate this egomaniac”.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is renewing his campaign against illegal immigration, telling a cheering crowd of thousands in Dallas that “it’s disgusting what’s happening to our country“.

But Jindal and Pataki are political Lilliputians swinging at a giant.

Trump added that he wasn’t anxious about being onstage with Carly Fiorina.

Over the weekend, Trump’s rivals campaign-tested their approaches, which seemed aimed at his credibility and his smash-mouth style.

But “he can’t continue on just insulting people“.

With more than 16 months to go before the next president moves into the White House, Trump is already thinking about Inauguration Day.
