Suit: Anti-abortion group recorded abortion providers
It is uncertain that a California pro-life group’s ongoing series of undercover videos that show Planned Parenthood officials discussing the illegal marketing and sale of fetal tissue will lead to defunding for the nation’s leading provider of abortion services.
A federal judge in San Francisco on Friday blocked the release of any recordings made at meetings of an abortion providers’ association by the anti-abortion group the Center for Medical Progress.
Saying this violates federal racketeering law, the NAF is seeking a temporary restraining order halting the release of videos and audio recordings containing members’ names and addresses, and the dates and locations of future meetings. In order to have a nationally accredited ob-gyn program, the school must offer training for all aspects of the field, including abortions, whether elective or medically necessary, said MUSC spokeswoman Heather Woolwine.
On Friday, CBS This Morning actually highlighted the “tough, new questions” Planned Parenthood is facing, showcasing the “latest and most graphic video“. Instead, they are a grand scheme by “extremists” to block access to abortion. Lawyers for the professional group said Center for Medical Progress members registered for the conferences using fake drivers licenses and signed forms agreeing not to videotape the meetings. State lawmakers in Texas held a hearing Wednesday to investigate the issue, even though, like those in Indiana, Planned Parenthood affiliates in Texas don’t collect fetal tissue for donation in medical research.
If Congress fails to defund Planned Parenthood, Rep. Steve Pearce is among 18 conservative members of the House who vows to shut down the government again.
For Catholics, the videos reflect the need to be mindful of what St. John Paul II called “the culture of death” in his 1995 encyclical “Evangelium Vitae” (“The Gospel of Life”).
In the first video, a woman, who is yet to be identified, can be heard speaking to Planned Parenthood doctor Deborah Nucatola.
“We must act to fully defund Planned Parenthood“, they wrote in a letter obtained by The Hill.
“Rand Paul, (Senate Majority Leader) Mitch McConnell, (Texas Sen.) Ted Cruz, and (Iowa Sen.) Joni Ernst should probably listen to the medical community before they decide to legislate health care for millions of people“, said Dawn Laguens, executive vice president of Planned Parenthood Action Fund, said Thursday after the fourth video’s release. In the second video, the point of concern is that the Planned Parenthood official is seen haggling over the price of aborted babies’ body parts and joking about needing the money to buy a Lamborghini.
