Suspected terror attack in Punjab’s Gurdaspur kills 1; 4 gunmen holed up
According to reports, the attackers, three to four in number first attacked a state roadways bus and then entered the police station.
In an early morning attack on Monday, suspected Pakistani militants opened fire at Dinanangar town in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district, leaving three people dead and at least seven injured. There are unconfirmed reports coming in about of one casualty as well.
Meanwhile, five live bombs have also been found on a railway track between Dinanagar and Pathankot.
The terrorists fired at people near the Dinanagar bus stand and then attacked the Dinanagar police station.
The town is close to the border of Jammu and Kashmir state.
According to the report, the militants also fired at a passenger bus at 5 AM which was travelling to Jammu. Police has sought help from Indian army in the operation.
Eyewitnesses said the terrorists, numbering 3-4, fired on a bus going towards Jammu and later moved towards the police station.
Senior police officials have reached the spot.
Punjab Police sources said the incident indicated that it was a Fidayeen attack.
