There’s A Hidden Fee Inside Windows 10
The Solitaire Premium Edition for Windows 8.1 is exactly the same, but it’s offered as a separate app in the Microsoft Store, rather than being bundled with the OS.
The Windows 10 upgrade is now available.
After not being included in Windows 8 as a pre-installed game, Solitaire is back, pre-installed on Windows 10 as the company rejoices 25 years of the addictive card-game. The Solitaire Collection borrows from models used by popular apps Candy Crush and Clash of Clans by charging for a subscription instead of a one-off purchase for the game.
Signing up for Premium also awards users larger coin rewards for completing daily challenges and additional boosts for some game modes. While the payments only help you get rid of the advertisement, it still comes down as nothing short of a freakish move to many.
Players are saying that the Solitaire advertisements will randomly cover the entire game screen for a full 15 to 30 seconds, making it impossible to enjoy the game, especially if you like keeping score with time.
There’s a big caveat to note here before we even begin – Windows 10 is now free to the vast majority of Windows owners.
Windows 10 users who set in to play the all-time favourite cards game found that the “free” Solitaire game is injected with ads and to get an ad-free Solitaire, you need to shell out some money.
