Tottenham 1-2 Arsenal: Video Highlights
The third round of the Capital One Cup features the Tottenham Hotspur vs. Arsenal.
26′ – GOAL! Spurs 0-1 Arsenal: Oxlade-Chamberlain’s shot is parried into the path of Flamini by Vorm and he slams the ball home.
The 31-year-old admitted he had a point to prove, and did just that by scoring a stunning 20-yard volley for his second of the night.
Check out the two goals from the most unlikely of scorers below.
Costa Rica forward Joel Campbell was given only his fourth start for Arsenal in four years and he fluffed an early chance with a header wide from Kieran Gibbs’ deflected cross.
According to Marc Higginson of BBC Sport, the fans were arrested at White Hart Lane for a “range of offences…including criminal damage”.
The equaliser finally arrived via an own goal in the 56th minute when a cross from Chadli was sent into the back of the Arsenal net by Calum Chambers.
“Overall we responded well mentally and physically to the challenge we faced tonight, and it was a convincing performance”, the Arsenal manager said.
“Of course personally I am happy with the two goals today”, Flamini said after the final whistle.
Pochettino continued: “I don’t regret (my selections) – you can make mistakes, remember when (Diego) Maradona missed a penalty?” I must say that we were at the requested level physically and mentally from the start onwards. For me, Chambers himself did his first team prospects no harm at all and he was much better last night than in that torrid first half against Liverpool.
The Northern Irishman’s side, who had failed to win their last five games in all competitions, eventually secured a 3-2 shootout win at Anfield when Bastien Hery’s tame effort for Carlisle was easily saved by Bogdan.
“It’s a derby for us and the supporters and for that we want to win”, he said.
“I don’t think Kane is a one-season wonder at all, he’s another top player and if you offered me him for Giroud or Walcott I’d take him for sure”, he told Sky Sports.
