Fox News is coming to the defense of Megyn Kelly following rumors that the network’s Kelly File anchor took a 10-day vacation because of Donald Trump. “In particular when it comes to women, you’ve called women you don’t like fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals…”
In an interview with Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity, Trump was asked whether he was prepared to spend $345 million or more to fund his establishment-bucking campaign. “Sorry @realDonaldTrump didn’t fire me- I fired Trump“.
Trump’s appeal to Republicans was evident as pluralities said he was the Republican candidate best able to address the economy, immigration and terrorism.
Not only was the poll conducted after the 6 August debate but it was in the field during the height of the controversy over Trump’s comments about Fox News host Megyn Kelly “bleeding from her wherever”. Obviously either Trump or his advisers made a big mistake that may be fatal to his campaign, which has already been taken care of by some Republicans distancing themselves from Donald Trump.
Donald Trump always boasted about his ratings for “Celebrity Apprentice”.
The feud seemed to thaw Monday after the network’s chairman, Roger Ailes, reached out to Trump directly to clear the air. “He called me up and he actually said, ‘Is there any way we can get this thing done?’ Because, frankly, he could not have been nicer”. Experts say that with Trump still atop the polls after Thursday’s debate, it’s hard to see how his exchange with Kelly will ultimately play out. “I’m just not prepared to tell you right now”. Trump appeared on Sean Hannity’s show on Tuesday night, taking over the full hour, and stretching over into Wednesday night. “In Mexico! They’re building it in Mexico!” he says as the crowd began to boo.
Retired neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson, who has arguably spent the mosttime in Alabama of any of the 17 GOPpresidential candidates, was tied for third in Alabama with Florida Sen. We will be hearing some of these same people debating many more times.
Comments like Trump’s echo familiar gaffes of campaigns past, like former GOP nominee Mitt Romney’s reference to “binders full of women” in the 2012 debate and then-candidate Barack Obama’s comment to fellow candidate Hillary Clinton that she is “likable enough” in 2008. Instead, he’s virtually hijacked the entire Republican primary season, to the point where the other candidates have become nearly invisible, and some former frontrunners such as Jeb Bush have suffered sizeable declines in the polls.
