Trump says he can’t recall using insults he’s made often
The Donald Trump experiment is wearing thin for a crucial demographic for Republicans in Connecticut: women. “I look forward to taking lots of money from my nice fat little Rosie”. I could have done with one fewer reference to his mailman father. Kelly answered that Trump had used such language directed at other women besides O’Donnell, and Trump conceded the point.
“For the record it was well beyond Rosie O’Donnell”, she said sternly.
The Republican audience at Thursday’s presidential debate in Cleveland laughed when Donald Trump brushed aside any question of his use of demeaning terms for women by saying, falsely, that it was just about liberal entertainer Rosie O’Donnell.
As much as I do personally like Donald Trump, his comment about Megyn Kelly on CNN is a bridge too far for me.
Juliana Bergeron, the Republican National Committee member from New Hampshire, said Trump’s remarks were “degrading and insulting” and would hurt his already poor standing with women.
I think there is no way to otherwise interpret Mr. Trump’s comment.
-Trump has referred to as O’Donnell a “fats pig”, a “slob” and an “animal”, based on a number of revealed stories.
While it was unclear if it was Trump himself tweeting from his official account, at 3:24 a.m. early on Friday, Trump retweeted a supporter calling Kelly a “bimbo.” Chuck Schumer, likely to be the next party leader in the Senate, and Rep. Eliot Engel, the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, both said they would oppose the deal when it comes to a vote in September. Jeb Bush stepped in it when he said, “I’m not sure we need half a billion dollars for women’s health issues”. “I will never watch your show again”.
Former State Democratic Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo was quick to associate Trump with the GOP brand, however. “They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people“.
“I’m extremely proud of all of the moderators – they asked tough, important questions and did their job as journalists”. My sense is that the other candidates didn’t take Trump on for fear of having his wrath turned on them, and in the process demonstrated a glaring lack of leadership. He is not a professional politician and is known for being a blunt talker. “Trump is defined correctly as at best a provocateur and more like a clown”. Who do you think won the debate? The debate’s subtext: Voters still have a choice between the conservative and the moderate, the governor and the senator, the libertarian and the hawk, the showman and the policy wonk.
Yet after the GOP debate, Wasserman Schultz pushed the “war on women” theme.
Kelly also got support from the only woman running for the Republican nomination.
