Trump says he’d send back Syrian refugees taken in by US
“If I win, I’m going to say it right now and I’ll say it to you, those 200,000 people – they have to know this and the world will hear it – are going back”.
The outspoken business magnate and Republican frontrunner suggested refugees could be members of the terror group in a “tactical ploy” during a rambling, hour long speech at a rally in Keene, in New Hampshire.
But Trump raised questions about these refugees and their intentions.
Washington and its allies blame Assad for the mayhem in Syria, where four years of bloodshed have killed more than 240,000 people, and fueled a massive outflow of desperate refugees. As many as 9 million people have been displaced, including more than 4 million who have fled the country, according to the United Nations.
In a characteristically lively address, Trump laid out his own polar opposite approach, criticising the recent announcement from John Kerry that the USA would accept 100,000 refugees from around the world a year by 2017.
Trump is not the first lawmaker to raise alarms about the potential of ISIS and other terrorist organizations using the refugee crisis to try to enter the United States or Europe. A few intelligence officials and Republican lawmakers have expressed similar concerns.
Trump also said after President Barack Obama reduced American troop levels in Iraq, rebels forces “knocked out of everybody”. “They’re expecting 125 people tonight”, Trump taunted.
“Military tactics are very interesting”, Trump said. At the time, he said the US could not accept more refugees because of post-Sept. “To a hellhole?” he said.
