US Republican candidate Bush vows Washington culture shake-up
Jeb Bush, a man related to more presidents than most people, would like to remind you that he thinks Washington is just so gross.
On Monday he’ll step up that effort when he delivers a speech on tackling what he’ll describe as the nation’s out-of-control capital, or “Mt. Washington” as he’ll call it, with much the same fortitude that he took on “Mt. Tallahassee”, the capital of Florida. Already a favorite of establishment Republicans, Bush is appealing to the party’s grassroots small-government movement with tough talk on Washington.
If he is elected, Bush said, he would save money by implementing a freeze on new hiring and to replace only one person for every three federal workers who retire.
Someone needs to tell him that when kids rebel against their parents and their boring jobs, they usually aren’t simultaneously interviewing for the same gig.
Targeting a lobbying industry that he said has spent $12.5 million per member of Congress at last count, Bush designed his six-year lobbying ban would ensure than senators serve at least one full term without being influenced by a former colleague.

It’s not surprising that Bush would begin rolling out a series of policies even as the field for president continues to grow.
Speaking at an event in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Bush also argued that if Republicans accept Donald Trump’s “ugly” and “mean-spirited” language, then “we’ll never win”.

Asked how he’ll combat concerns about a third Bush presidency, the former governor reiterated he’s aware it will be an issue for some people and he will campaign hard to “show his heart”.
