WatchOS 2 delayed, won’t launch today
Apple has scrapped today’s planned release of the watchOS 2 software update after discovering a bug.
Apple is still expected to release iOS 9 to the public today.
WatchOS 2 release date: When is the Apple Watch update coming out?
Apple was all set to launch Watch OS 2 and iOS 9 in just under two hours time. This relies on the WatchConnectivity feature, designed to improve the communication between the iPhone and the Apple Watch for better third-party app performance.
Apple also says there’ll be more “native” apps for the watch that don’t require you to use your phone.
But the Cupertino company has pulled the update after discovering a “bug” in its latest software.
The iPhone’s anticipated iOS 9 update will still roll out on time. That update is available starting at 1 p.m. New York time.
Whether WatchOS 2 helps the Apple Watch score anything higher than the 6/10 it managed in our original review remains to be seen.
Although we’re curious about the bug that caused WatchOS 2 to be delayed, we can’t find any information about what kind of problems the developers have encountered.
Apple Watch owners are giving a strong thumb’s up to the wearable device, according to a new poll from 451 Research.
