Windows 10 Mobile Will Only Support Devices With 8GB Storage Or More
With Windows 95 also came Microsoft Network, which was a rival to the AOL and which helped many people to comply with Web and Email.
Microsoft has previously announced a list of Lumia devices eligible for the update, but it has now emerged that older devices with less than 8GB of storage will be sidelined when Windows 10 Mobile comes around.
Some will argue that this negates the success of Windows 10, that one can’t compare a free upgrade to a paid license. For those upgrading from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 with Media Center, Microsoft will send out a Windows update that includes its first-party Windows DVD Player app. But that view is nonsense, and for a number of reasons. Both tablets were chunky by modern standards, and the unpopularity of Windows 8 overwhelmed the advantages that they had, such as the built-in kick stand, the ultra-slim type and touch covers and the ability to run win32 applications on the Surface Pro. Microsoft offered a 3-for-1 deal for Windows 7 Home Premium in the Family Pack, which later came back for a second go-round. And Windows 8.1? Absolutely free.
But forget all that.
This lines up with information discovered in a Microsoft presentation earlier this year, which revealed that the company’s partners should expect to get Windows 10 Mobile by the end of this quarter, which would give manufacturers and carriers adequate time for testing and other preparations ahead of launch in October or November. And they did so successfully.
What do you think of these numbers?
“OK, I admit that the timing might be coincidental but that would be one hell of a coincidence”. Two weeks after Windows 10’s launch, 12.6 percent of all unique visitors to ZDNet (roughly one out of every eight, including mobile devices) were using Windows 10. According to Mr Warren’s tweets, the gadget will be thinner and light than its predecessor.
