Xbox One Cortana Release Not Happening Before 2016
Xbox exec Mike Ybarra answered a query on Twitter revealing that it is not only Elite controller owners that will have the opportunity to change button commands. Xbox One will not house Cortana this year anymore.
Cortana made its first appearance in the Windows Phone 8.1, and Microsoft has just recently released its very own Windows 10, so integrating it to the Xbox One appears to be the most viable next step.
Of course there’s no set release date but we expect it to be after the launch of the Elite controller, perhaps when the New Xbox One Experience rolls around.
Aside from Cortana for Xbox One in 2016, Major Nelson also announced a new update for the Xbox Beta app on Windows 10. For fans already in the new Xbox One experience preview, thank you for all your feedback.
Microsoft has also been insisting that Sony is planning to introduce a price cut for the PlayStation 4, probably hoping that a few gamers will hold off on a purchase as they wait for an official announcement about such a move. Up till now, the feature was pitched as an exclusive to the upcoming Xbox Elite controller, but according to Mr. Ybarra’s tweet, “it’s coming for all controllers soon”, which implies that the Xbox System software may include options to remap buttons.
It was previously assumed that Cortana integration into the Xbox One will likely be launched by Microsoft as part of the big NXOE update which the company plans to roll out to the console in November this year.
