Xbox One game streaming to Windows 10 PCs goes live for everyone
Essentially this allows you to play in pretty much any room of your house and not have to drag your console everywhere with you. While it is only available to those that are in the Windows 10 Preview, it does mean that the feature will be available to everyone when the new operating system officially launches on July 29. It allows you to remotely play an Xbox One-and, soon, via backwards compatibility functionality, Xbox 360-games on a Windows 10 PC or tablet.
Xbox Wire has the details on how to make a love connection between your game console and computer, along with details on the changes is the July update to Windows’ Xbox app to make gaming remotely and directly easier. And thanks to Xbox Live, the users are able to download games to external hard drives when their consoles are running out of space.
In addition to game streaming capabilities, the Windows 10 Xbox app will also receive upgrades to several features. Enable the option that says “Allow game streaming to other devices“. They will all be grabbed and added to your game collection automatically within the app the first time you launch it. If the game isn’t added automatically, you can choose to manually add it as well.
Why this matters: There’s two ways of looking at this: On the one hand, it ties Microsoft’s ecosystem together, giving bonuses for owning various sets of Microsoft gear, including the Xbox One and a Windows 10 PC. When you do, you will see a new Stream option for game streaming.
I tested out streaming when it was first released to the Xbox One as part of the Preview Program and it was a surprisingly well-done feature. Go to Game DVR > On this PC > Share to upload your local clips and screenshots and have them appear on your Activity Feed.
For the week of E3 2015, Xbox One consoles outsold PlayStation 4’s in the United States; they didn’t hold the title for long, as PS4 still came out on top in June, but for Microsoft the feat is good news.
Once Xbox One Game Streaming for Windows 10 PC is enabled, users can select a game out of their collection and then select “Play from Console” or they can just use the Xbox One native menu.
