Xbox One’s Fall Update Includes Backwards Compatibility
The New Xbox One Experience, as the company is calling it, will be powered by Windows 10. November’s big update to the Xbox One operating system looks to be huge. Play Xbox 360 games on Xbox One – at launch over 100 Xbox 360 games will be available with more promised in future months.
Mike Ybarra, director of program management, said gamers and games were always at the center of everything developers do with Xbox. With PS4 owners enjoying exclusive Destiny content, games like Until Dawn and the incoming Uncharted 4 release, Xbox owners should still definitely be looking forward to Tomb Raider and Halo.
Well, for starters, there’s a brand-new Guide, allowing quicker access to essential apps and features. All Xbox One members will be able to play Xbox 360 games on their console when this update releases.
Of course, major aspects like Xbox 360 backwards compatibility, a new Guide, a streamlined Home, and a more social Community are also included. The Activity Feed will be redesigned to make keeping up with friend’s actions and favorite games easier, and a new Twitter-like Trending section will be added that will help track the most popular posts in the Community section. Listings will now appear instantly and in full-screen and a new picture-in-picture mode of TV has been added so you’ll be able to browse for other things without missing what is happening on the current show.
In a news post, Microsoft detailed the updates coming to Xbox One in November. This is a bummer and for some reason and for the longest time ever, Microsoft did not sell official power supply units. Finally, the enhanced Store, which can be found next to OneGuide, including features to explore Games, Movies & TV, apps and Music, along with a new vertical gallery view to show more listings.
