Trailer for horror comedy The Final Girls
The Final Girls looks like a bit of both.
“The Final Girls” is a new horror comedy from director Todd Strauss-Schulson (“A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas”) and writers Joshua John Miller and M.A. Fortin. Take The Cabin In The Woods and set it in the ’80s, and that approaches what the film is like. Although it’s hardly comparable to any existing films, you could make comparisons to the previously mentioned films along with Last Action Hero, Mean Girls and Josie and the Pussycats. American Horror Story’s Taissa Farmiga plays Max, a teenager who, along with some pals, attends a screening of an 80s slasher flick called “Camp Bloodbath“, which starred her late mother, played by Malin Akerman. Also starring Adam DeVine, Thomas Middleditch, Alia Shawkat, Angela Trimbur, with Alexander Ludwig and Nina Dobrev. Max and her friends find themselves in an alternate dimension where they became part of the movie and have to figure out how to survive, using their knowledge of horror movie tropes. They soon realize they are trapped inside the cult classic movie and must team up with the fictional and ill-fated camp counselors, including Max’s mom as the scream queen, to battle the films machete-wielding killer.
